The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates one of the nation's largest public transportation systems and covers the City of Chicago and 35 surrounding suburbs. On an average weekday, 765,566 rides are taken on CTA.

You can enjoy unlimited rides on all CTA buses and trains with our 1-Day, 3-day, 7-day or 30-day unlimited-ride passes. Your pass activates the first time you use it and is good for the full length of time from that moment.

CSAs will be paid between $12 and $14 hourly, and receive health care benefits. The workers will be members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local #308, which represents rail workers.

If you have a credit or debit card with the contactless payment symbol ( ), you can pay-as-you-go by touching your card to a reader or even create a Ventra Transit Account on that card, and load value and passes onto that. In other words, a card already in your wallet could be the only card you need to carry!

Exempt (non-bargained for) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area and Map either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA. Non-exempt (bargained for) employees do not have this requirement.

Do CTA buses have cameras? ›

Each bus features both interior and exterior cameras. There are upwards of 12 cameras on each vehicle depending on model. CTA's fleet of buses have been equipped with multiple surveillance cameras since 2003.

Note that your credit or debit card may be authorized for $5 when you first touch it to a fare reader, even though the actual fare is less. This is a temporary pre-authorization, and you'll only be charged the actual fare once it's reconciled in your payment account (this usually happens after about a day).
